It is a pleasure to work with vegetables like these when they are at their best. And with the Walla Walla sweet onions bulbing up, it is a great time of year to be a farmer and eater.<\/p>\n<p>With the hens laying well, we have many a meal where eggs and vegetables go together. A nice addition to such a dish is a whole grain. We were gifted some <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gr%C3%BCnkern\">grunkern<\/a> by our 2015 apprentice Semra. It is a gluten-free way to have a hearty meal. Use whatever veggies you have.<\/p>\n<p><b>Vegetables, Grunkern and Eggs<\/b><br \/><b><br \/><\/b>5 large chard leaves<br \/>2 medium onions<br \/>2 garlic scapes<br \/>2 tbsp olive oil<br \/>2 tbsp balsalmic vinegar<br \/>1\/4 cup liuid (water, stock, wine or brine)<br \/>2 to 3 cups cooked grunkern or grain of choice<br \/>3 eggs<\/p>\n<p>Chop chard stems, onions and garlic scapes. Saute in olive oil for 5 minutes<br \/>Chop chard leaves, add vinegar and liquid. Saute until leaves begin to wilt, push to outside of pan.<br \/>Add grunkern, heat to add light crispiness, push to outside<br \/>Add 3 eggs, let harden to fried egg consistency, mix all contents of pan<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-WAgnZK-YxJ0\/WUCg9sZO_PI\/AAAAAAAAD2g\/PEysTwNTwWIU7AoUgl9w6lS3c-a2GRO9ACLcBGAs\/s1600\/grains%2Band%2Bgreans%2Bwith%2Beggs.JPG\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"768\" data-original-width=\"1024\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-WAgnZK-YxJ0\/WUCg9sZO_PI\/AAAAAAAAD2g\/PEysTwNTwWIU7AoUgl9w6lS3c-a2GRO9ACLcBGAs\/s400\/grains%2Band%2Bgreans%2Bwith%2Beggs.JPG\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>We suggest garnishing the dish with some Fair Share Farm ferments.
